چکیده
Abstract Background: Sizeable proportion of patients have discordant low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and non-high density (NHDL-C). It has been shown that discordance LDL-C NHDL-C either underestimates or overestimates coronary risk. Objective: We assessed whether this an impact on GRACE TIMI risk scores in with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Methods: retrospectively evaluated the data 198 consecutive AMI. Fasting serum lipid profiles were recorded, calculated. Patients divided into 3 groups according to percentiles: Discordant group: (n=48). scores, mortality cardiovascular events (heart failure, non-fatal angina) at sixth month compared between these three groups. Differences analyzed One-way ANOVA Kruskal-Wallis rank test, chi-square for percentages. Also, post hoc LSD Conover-Iman's non-parametric multiple comparison test used. A p value (p=0.029 0.008, respectively). Cardiovascular not different among (p=0.473 p=0.176, Conclusion: score was higher group LDL-C<NHDL-C, but there is no difference regarding concordant AMI patients.

International clinical practice guidelines on dyslipidemia emphasize the importance of matching the use and intensity of statin therapy with the absolute risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (CVD). Indeed, independent of the baseline level of dyslipidemia, patients who have entered the intervention arms of randomized clinical trials of statin therapy with similar absolute risks of CVD...
متن کاملTriglyceride to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholestrol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratios are predictors of cardiovascular risk in Iranian adults: Evidence from a population-based cross-sectional study
Background: The superiority of TG/HDL-C and LDL-C/HDL-C ratios in predicting CVD risk is a matter of debates. Thus, the objective of this study was to compare TG/HDL-C and LDL-C to HDL-C ratios in predicting the risk of CVD events. Methods: In a population-based cross-sectional study, 567 representative participants aged 40 years or older were entered in the study in Babol, North of Iran. The...

Low HDL is an independent risk factor for myocardial infarction. This paper reviews our current understanding of HDL, HDL structure and function, HDL subclasses, the relationship of low HDL with myocardial infarction, HDL targeted therapy, and clinical trials and studies. Furthermore potential new agents, such as alirocumab (praluent) and evolocumab (repatha) are discussed.

Methods The MERCURY II (Measuring Effective Reductions in Cholesterol Using Rosuvastatin therapY II) trial examined the effects of statin treatment in patients with high coronary heart disease (CHD) risk, LDL-C 130 and 250 mg/dl, and triglycerides 400 mg/dl. Therapy consisted of rosuvastatin (10 or 20 mg), atorvastatin (10 or 20 mg), or simvastatin (20 or 40 mg). The apoB and LDL-C or non–HDL-C...
متن کاملHigh-density lipoprotein cholesterol and prognosis after myocardial infarction.
The Coronary Drug Project was a randomized, placebo-controlled trial of lipid-influencing drugs in men who had recovered from one or more documented myocardial infarctions. Determinations of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol were made at baseline in a group of 354 men randomized to the placebo group. Five-year mortality was highest (33.0%) in men with baseline serum HDL cholesterol lev...
